Australia v Sri Lanka: Tourists claim final ball victory in first T20I - by cobratalk

Asela Gunaratne hit a half-century as Sri Lanka claimed a five-wicket victory from the last ball of the first T20I against Australia in Melbourne.
Needing 169 to win, the scores were level with one ball remaining and it was left to Chamara Kapugedera to hit the winning runs off Andrew Tye.
Gunaratne (52 off 37 balls) and Dilshan Munaweera (44 off 29) had taken the visitors to within sight of victory after skipper Aaron Finch had top-scored with 43 as Australia posted 168-6 in their 20 overs.
Finch and Michael Klinger (38) put on 76 for the first wicket before falling in consecutive overs. Travis Head ensured that no momentum was lost though, hitting 31 from 25 balls, before holing out to give Lasith Malinga (2-29) the first of his two wickets on his return to international cricket.Sri Lanka lost Upul Tharanga (0) in the first over of their reply, but a 74-run stand between Niroshan Dickwella (30 off 25 balls) and Munaweera put them in a strong position midway through the innings.
Adam Zampa removed Munaweera to boost Australia's chances, only for Gunaratne to kick on and reach his maiden T20I fifty, hitting seven boundaries in the process, before he was stumped off Ashton Turner (2-12) from the first ball of the 18th over.
After Turner claimed his second wicket, that of Milinda Siriwardana (15), later in the over, it was left to Kapugedera and Seekkuge Prasanna (8no) to finish the job.
They duly did so with Kapugendera (10no) hitting the final ball through cover for four to give Sri Lanka a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
